Why an Ice Rink in Mason?

When people in Mason find out that our boys play hockey, the first thing they say is: "That is cool!"  The follow up questions are:  "Where do you go to do that?  How far away is that?"  Hence, the problem and the need for a rink.

Demographics

It is all about the kids (the little ones and the grown up ones too).  Mason is a perfect setting for a new ice rink.  With 1/3 of Mason's population under the age of 18 (estimated at 10,000 kids), there are plenty of kids looking for something to do during winter months.  The closest rink is 20 - 40 minutes away from Mason depending on the time of day and where you live.

Not all boys and girls want to play volleyball, swim, wrestle, or basketball in the winter.  Many want to strap on the skates and try hockey or figure skating.  The limiting factor for Mason parents is that they do not want to drive 30 minutes to the closest rink for practice two times a week and a game or a performance on the weekend especially when you factor in the other siblings schedules.
